You are up on stage, the lights are bright and there are lots of people. You’d rather be at home. In this setting, achieving a hypnosis state may be difficult.

In another scenario, you are in a professional environment. You are feeling relaxed and are perhaps even a little curious about what might happen. You are looking forward to achieving an important goal today, to improve your life. In this setting a relaxing hypnosis state, is much more likely to occur.

Hypnosis Happens Every Day

A hypnosis state is achieved every day. It is not unlike the feeling between sleeping and waking, at night time. Some people may feel lighter in hypnosis, some may feel heavier. Upwards of 95% of people will be able to achieve hypnosis if it is something they are willing to try.

A feeling similar to hypnosis is when you have a daydream. Your conscious attention floats away while your deeper mind is solving a problem. Hypnosis is a state of mind between an Alpha level (9-14Hz) and a Theta level (4-8Hz) brainwave. This simply means the analysing part of your mind slows down and you are very relaxed.

Willpower

Many try to achieve goals through sheer willpower. This is where we use conscious effort to work towards a result. In the case of constant anxiety or addiction, conscious effort won’t work because the pattern is deeper ingrained. Using willpower alone is ineffective.

You can manually control your breathing for a short time, but eventually you will lose focus and your subconscious mind will take over.
